AREMA INDONESIA, proud of the city

AREMA stands "AREK MALANG" in Indonesian language freely means people of Malang, has been used by people from this city to call it's self. 

When professional foot ball era began to flourish in Indonesia many professional foot ball club established, one of the most phenomenal we now know as AREMA INDONESIA.

AREMA founder was Mayjen TNI (Purn) Acub Zaenal,  a General who serve the board administrator of Galatama         (Indonesian Profesional League, at that time ) and chairman of PSSI on Syarnubi Said era. He interested in establish a club, after meeting with Ovan Tobing, Public relation of Persema ( Football association of Malang ) football club wich financed by City Government of Malang and acting in Perserikatan League. The most important point for him is  enthusiasm of audience in this city.

Ovan, with Lucky Acub Zaenal ( Acub Zaenal's son) responded seriously. They met Dirk "derek" Sutrisno (Alm), the owner of ARMADA 86,  local football club with seriously financial problem, to get qualified players. And eventually transformed into AREMA GALATAMA on August 11, 1987 in accordance with notarial Pramu Haryono, SH no. 58, with a Lion as a Logo.

On it's way, AREMA INDONESIA is ups and down,  with the main constraints of financial problems from season to seasons, but didn't lessen achievement deficiencies of AREMA INDONESIA. 

Noted AREMA INDONESIA become a champions on Galatama XII season 1992/1993. After PSSI change their regulation of competition, AREMA INDONESIA in several times through the rounds of 8 major.

At the time AREMA INDONESIA is taken over by PT Bentoel Investama,  AREMA INDONESIA become "professional" club with establishe PT AREMA INDONESIA pursuant to the deed No 43 dated September 3, 2004 wich was strenghtened by Ministerial of Law and Human Right decree.

In this period, AREMA INDONESIA won the Copa Indonesia twice in a row. But  AREMA INDONESIA also degrade to the Major League Division,before back to Super Leage at the next season.

In 2009, AREMA INDONESIA have to faced financial problem after PT Bentoel Investama divested. This club almost couldn't  follow the Indonesia Super League. But thanks to a consotium that currently consists of several prominent cross-profession, AREMA INDONESIA still drove a professional team.

Talk about AREMA INDONESIA,  it's can't be separated with AREMANIA, THE REAL SUPPORTERS.

"Gebyar Suro" Gunung Kawi

Located on the highland, part of Kawi Mountain, there is a place often visited by people with a variety of perceptions and goals respectively.

It's about 40 km south east Malang, "Gunung Kawi" has a natural tourist attraction as well as a very interesting spiritual tours. Cool mountain atmosphere with fresh air makes Kawi become a perfect place for a while releasing exhausted from our busy daily activity.

Gebyar Suro is a celebratin conducted by the local community ( and other Java Community ) to celebrate the Javaness New Year, and usually cacarried out first day on that year.Gebyar Suro events in Gunung Kawi is already a tourism official agenda of Kabupaten Malang.

On thet occasion, each element of community groups in District Wonosari, Gunung KAwi make a Tumpeng shape as a sign of thanksgiving and prayer that in the coming years it will be better. And for serve 'Tourism'. then tumpeng was placed in JOLEN wich decorated with attractive according to the theme chosen for each group are contested.  That Jolens is being parade per-group, accompanid by music and dance that has became a packet.

At the end of the parade, there is a statue of Ogoh-Ogoh as a symbol of anger, that will be burned in the end of procession.
Special at Gunung Kawi, in the same month there is also an annual ritual that dates 11-12 to commemorate the deathof elders who were buried there, RM Imam Sudjono

Mt. Arjuno, only the strong

Covered by tropical rain forest on very dense,  Mount Arjuno became  mysterious and the most favorite place for me to sharpen mental courage and ability to survive in open nature. Need mental readiness, physical and technical knowledge to survive before start climbing this mountain.

The clean beach and face off Indian ocean, its wonderfull waves with soft sea wind.

Not Kuta, though good enough ... not Tanah lot, though have a temple built on the rock.

The beach possessing three islands with distance of about one hundred meters each, two of which have been connected with one meter-wide bridge to the shore, Balekambang offers a different atmosphere of beach resorts in the Southern part of Malang. One of the three islands called Ismoyo island has a Hindu temple, established by local Hinduists.

Annually, the ritual and traditional ceremonies Jalanidhipuja (Hindu ceremony) and Suran (Javanese New Year ceremony) are held here every year. The parking area, stalls, inns, souvenir shops, and the others tourism facilities has provided for the visitors. This beautiful beach is located at Srigonco village, Bantur district, about 57 km away to the south from Malang and accessible by public transportation.

Jakarta, all you need is here

Located at northwest of Java coast Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, the largest city on the country. The History of Jakarta start from around 4th century in a small part of the downstream of Ciliwung River. During centuries later, the city port grew into a bustling international trade center.

From 'Sunda Kelapa' port of Kingdom of Sunda the city became "Jayakarta" on June 22, 1527 after Fatahillah mob or conquer the city . Hence, the date is commemorated as the date of birth of the City Jakarta. at the late of 16th century the dutch came to Jayakarta with VOC (Dutch East Indies) take control the city and change the name to Batavia. on 1942 name Batavia become Djakarta / Jakarta till now.

Land Mark & Tourism interest

MONAS (National Monument)
is a major landmark of Jakarta. Located in "Lapangan Merdeka" front of "Istana Negara". Almost all people of Indonesia know Monas even they never get there. Ideas from Soekarno the first president of Indonesia, he want the monument became representation of past, present and future of Indonesia. Several step to create the idea was established National Monument Committee hold from design competition held on 1955 and again on 1960. Only Frederich Silaban design meet the criteria determined by the committee, that not all of design approved by Soekarno after shown on him.

Construction proceed on several step start on august 17, 1961, with ceremonial process till done on august 1963.

ISTIQLAL Mosque as a country with the biggest Moslem's population in the world by KH Wahid Hasyim,the first minister's of religion affair, the idea's to build a national mosque launched, togather with Anwar Cokroaminoto chairman of Masjid Istiqlal Foundation, the idea proposed to Soekarno the president who welcomed the idea and later helped the supervisor of the construction. Design by F.Silaban, the Christian architect theme "Ketuhanan" (divinity), the foundation stone laid by Soekarno on august 24,1961. It take 17 years of construction when Soeharto second president of Indonesia inaugurated on February 22, 1978. With capacity for more than 120,000 people congregate on the same time Istiqlal is still the largest mosque in the region.

Malang Adventure, Mount Semeru

Mount Semeru (3,626 m ), the highest volcano's mountain in Java island, a part of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park located north east Malang is one of my favorite mountain to spend my time and to train my spirit. From 1990 the first time I go there, almost every year I go back there especially on mid of august when we celebrate The Independence Day of Indonesia.

Trip to Semeru 
Usually we need 4 days to go to Mt.Semeru. We can reach the mountain from Malang or Lumajang.

From Arjosari (bus station of Malang) take about one hour by public transport to Tumpang, than by Jeep go to Ranu Pane (2,200 m )the highest village before start climbing Semeru.

Ranu means 'lake", there is 2 lake in this village one is RanuPane about 1ha and the others is Ranu Regulo the smaller one. We can stand our night here at camping ground or small hotel and cottage operated by local and BTS National Park. Temperature here is very cold for tropical area, at day light it's around 4-10 Celsius, some time it can be minus at night.

Start climbing, our next destination is Ranu Kumbolo (Kumbolo Lake). Need 5-6 hours climb the green rain forest hill with vary of trees, up and down the hill some times with very extreme route. Ranu Kumbolo is the largest lake (14 ha) on Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area with very clean water. There is a shelter for spend our night here.

Malang, Place for Unity

Malang was a small city that I've got my formal education, from lovely "Mitreka Satata" my senior high school, to Architecture Technique at Brawijaya University. Almost 9 years spend all my time, spirit and my love there make me never forget about Malang with all memories inside.

A highland located about 90 km south of Surabaya the capital of East Java province, more than 450 m above sea level and surround by high mountain make this city have a clean and cool air .

Malang was taken from 'Malang Kucecwara" name one of temple found on gunung Buring district east of malang. Malang Kucecwara now applied as motto for the city means 'God has destroyed the false and enforced the right"

In the past design by a dutch architect, Malang was design for 'second' home town for people to get relax and avoid from a busy daily activities. Now this city is one of the favorite city for Indonesian young generation to take their study with several choice of university and a lot of major to get.
