Jakarta, all you need is here


Located at northwest of Java coast Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, the largest city on the country. The History of Jakarta start from around 4th century in a small part of the downstream of Ciliwung River. During centuries later, the city port grew into a bustling international trade center.
From 'Sunda Kelapa' port of Kingdom of Sunda the city became "Jayakarta" on June 22, 1527 after Fatahillah mob or conquer the city . Hence, the date is commemorated as the date of birth of the City Jakarta. at the late of 16th century the dutch came to Jayakarta with VOC (Dutch East Indies) take control the city and change the name to Batavia. on 1942 name Batavia become Djakarta / Jakarta till now.
Land Mark & Tourism interest
MONAS (National Monument)
is a major landmark of Jakarta. Located in "Lapangan Merdeka" front of "Istana Negara". Almost all people of Indonesia know Monas even they never get there. Ideas from Soekarno the first president of Indonesia, he want the monument became representation of past, present and future of Indonesia. Several step to create the idea was established National Monument Committee hold from design competition held on 1955 and again on 1960. Only Frederich Silaban design meet the criteria determined by the committee, that not all of design approved by Soekarno after shown on him.
Construction proceed on several step start on august 17, 1961, with ceremonial process till done on august 1963.
ISTIQLAL Mosque as a country with the biggest Moslem's population in the world by KH Wahid Hasyim,the first minister's of religion affair, the idea's to build a national mosque launched, togather with Anwar Cokroaminoto chairman of Masjid Istiqlal Foundation, the idea proposed to Soekarno the president who welcomed the idea and later helped the supervisor of the construction. Design by F.Silaban, the Christian architect theme "Ketuhanan" (divinity), the foundation stone laid by Soekarno on august 24,1961. It take 17 years of construction when Soeharto second president of Indonesia inaugurated on February 22, 1978. With capacity for more than 120,000 people congregate on the same time Istiqlal is still the largest mosque in the region.
